[NEohioPAL] WordStage Celebrates National Poetry Month with two Free Programs

WordStage - a Chamber Music Theater celebrates National Poetry Month with two newly commissioned  programs from the Lakewood and Beachwood Libraries.
 
"A Bomb in Her Bosom, the Secret life of Emily Dickinson" will be presented at the Lakewood public library 15725 Detroit Ave. in Lakewood on Thursday. April 3rd at 7:00pm.  The program examines new theories about Emily Dickinson's much discussed 'reclusiveness", and includes biographical narrations, many of Dickinson's poems and music for solo violin from her era.  Performers will feature Agnes Herrmann reading poems and letters of Emily, herself, noted violinist Mary Beth Ions and WordStage Artistic Director, Tim Tavcar, providing narration.  
Admission is free and open to the public.
 
On Sunday, April 6th at 2:00pm, WordStage will appear at the Beachwood Library 25501 Shaker Blvd. in Beachwood, where they will be performing   'Siegfried Sassoon and Wilfred Owen - Poets of the Trenches".  The program examines the poems of these two war heroes turned anti-war activists during WWI.  A chance meeting at Craiglockhart Hospital where they were both sent to recuperate from "shell shock", there friendship developed into a mutually beneficial creative partnership as well as a loving personal relationship.
 
Actor/readers Jeffrey Grover and Dan Kilbane will portray Sassoon and Owen, Tim Tavcar provides biographical background and commentary and violinist Mary Beth Ions plays music form British composers including Gustave Holst, Edward Elgar and Ralph Vaughan Composers. Admission is free, but Beachwood Library requests that you call them for reservations at 216-831-6868.
