May Music at LCCC's Stocker Arts Center

The Lorain County Community College Arts and Humanities division will host a variety of musical concerts throughout May.

Upcoming events are:

LCCC Civic Orchestra
7:30 p.m., Saturday, May 3
Hoke Theatre, Stocker Arts Center

Robert Beckstrom, will conduct the orchestra in performances of works by Chausson, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Johannes Brahms.

Tickets are $8 for adults; $7 for LCCC students with valid ID; children 12 and under; faculty, staff and seniors 65 and older.

 

LCCC Civic Concert Band
3 p.m., Sunday, May 4
Hoke Theatre, Stocker Arts Center

The band members have picked some of their favorite selections from past seasons to perform. Mark Wainwright will direct the performance.

Admission is free.

 

Spring Sing '14
7:30 p.m., Saturday, May 10
Hoke Theatre, Stocker Arts Center

Under the leadership of Nancy Davis, LCCC director of Choral Music Performance, the Civic Chorale will perform a Spring Sing concert. The Civic Chorale is a 100-voice mixed chorus comprised of musicians from the Greater Lorain County and Northeast Ohio area.

Enjoy an evening of musical entertainment featuring vocal jazz standards and Broadway tunes to spirituals and beautiful ballads from the American Songbook.  LCCC's talented music students will be featured in solo performances.

Tickets are $8 for adults; $7 for LCCC students with valid ID; children 12 and under; faculty, staff and seniors 65 and older.

"The Well-Tempered Harpsichordist" Second Series
7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 14
Cinema Hall, Stocker Arts Center

 

Harpsichordist Brian Wilson will perform a free concert with guest artists Sean Gabriel, flutist; Andréa Belding, violinist; and Ida Mercer, cellist.

 

Admission is free. 

 

LCCC Civic Jazz Band Concert
7:30 p.m., Saturday, May 24
Hoke Theatre, Stocker Arts Center

 

The LCCC Jazz Band presents a little bit of everything in this eclectic concert.  Big band, little band, solos, vocals, swing, Latin, fusion - it's all here in a night showing what the world of jazz has become.

Tickets are $8 for adults; $7 for LCCC students with valid ID; children 12 and under; faculty, staff and seniors 65 and older.
