*Big, the Musical*

Anne Spielberg

Directed by Russ Stich



*Production dates: July 11 - 27Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pmSundays at 3:00pm*

The classic 1987 motion picture fantasy bursts onto the stage in the
unforgettable theatrical experience,'Big, the musical.' When
frustrated adolescent Josh Baskin wishes he were 'big' and wakes up
the nextmorning a 30-year-old man, he discovers there’s much more to
being an adult than he’s bargained for and learns
we must all grow up at our own pace, in our own time.'Big' was the
winner of numerous awards including four Tony

Awards and ten Drama Desk Awards. This is a great contemporary coming
of age story for everyone, no matter how big or small.*Audition

*Audition dates:* Sunday June 1st  7pm - 9:30pm  & Monday June 1st 7pm - 9:30pm

Please book an audition slot by calling (440) 949-5200 Ext. 221

*Requirements*

Bring a headshot & resume if available. There are many dancing roles
so be sure to highlight previous dance and/or tumbling experience

Prepare a contemporary musical theatre song and bring sheet music in
your key (accompanist provided--no acapella auditions)

Also prepare a short comedic monologue and be prepared to read from
the script (provided at auditions)

*Rehearsals*

Rehearsals will begin immediately starting on June 3rd. Rehearsals are
typically held at TrueNorth in the evenings Monday through Thursdays
with

additional rehearsals on Saturday and Sunday. Not all actors are
called for all rehearsals. However during tech week (Sunday July 6th
all day and leading up to
opening night) all actors will be called for every rehearsal.

It is extremely important to bring to the auditions a list of ALL
conflicts between June 3rd through the opening of the show, including
any vacations or other commitments.

*Roles*

All roles are open. There is a large ensemble with roles available for
ages 10 through adult age, males and females of any ethnicity.

*Character Breakdown*
BILLY KOPECKI Josh's best and most supportive friend. He is optimistic,
inventive, and encouraging.
Male, 11-13 yrs old
Range: F#3 - F5

ENSEMBLE ADULTS; CHILDREN; SALES PEOPLE; JUNIOR EXECUTIVES

GEORGE MACMILLAN The owner of the MacMillan Toy Company who is fighting to
save his company. Distinguished, playful, and a bit spry.
Male, 60-70 yrs old
Range: C3 - G4

JOSH BASKIN The story's protagonist. He has the mind, spirit, and innocence
of a 13 year-old trapped in the body of a 30 year-old.
Male, 25-35 yrs old
Range: Bb2 - B4

MRS. BASKIN Josh's frustrated, protective, and loving mother who is
struggling with parenting a pre-teen.
Female, 35-45 yrs old
Range: G3 - F#5

PAUL SEYMOUR The Vice President for Product Development at MacMillan Toy
Company vying for Susan's affection. Handsome, aggressive, self-absorbed.
Male, 30-40 yrs old
Range: Ab3 - Eb4

SUSAN LAWRENCE The attractive, business-oriented Vice President of
Marketing at MacMillan Toy Company. Possesses a secret giddy, school-girl
innocence about her. She eventually falls for Josh.
Female, 30-40 yrs old
Range: G3 - F5

YOUNG JOSH BASKIN Obscure, seventh grade pre-teen who is frustrated by his
parents and his age.
Male, 11-13 yrs old
Range: F3 - G5 -
