The Rubber City Shakespeare Company announces its upcoming summer repertory
season featuring William Shakespeare’s *Much Ado About Nothing* (directed
by Dane CT Leasure) and *Romeo and Juliet* (directed by Kelly Elliott).
Both productions are sponsored by The University of Akron’s College of
Education.

The company of 12 college and professional actors will perform both shows
in true rotating repertory, presenting a different show every other night
beginning June 25. Employing early modern staging conditions such as
universal lighting, the actors and audience share the same light, a
technique that allows the actors to engage directly with the audience and
is similar to how Shakespeare’s company performed. Rubber City also
practices cross-gendered casting, with women playing men’s roles and vice
versa, as well as re-gendering characters from male to female, allowing
women to play females in early modern plays.

We begin the summer repertory season with Pay-As-You-Like-It preview
performances of *Much Ado About Nothing *on June 25 and *Romeo and Juliet *on
June 26. These are free performances, no reservations needed, with
donations accepted at the door.

*Opening night for Much Ado About Nothing is on June 27 and opening night
for Romeo and Juliet is on June 28*. The repertory runs Thursday through
Sunday until July 13, with no performance on July 4. All evening
performances begin at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday matinees begin at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students (14+), and $8 for
youth (7-13).

*Order tickets online at:**www.rubbercityshakes.com
<http://www.rubbercityshakes.com/>/tickets. Tickets are available an hour
