[NEohioPAL] AUDITIONS: SAVE THE DATES! "A Christmas Story" at Cleveland Play House

?Cleveland Play House (CPH) will be casting children ages 7-12, of all races and ethnic backgrounds, for its production of A Christmas Story, directed by John McCluggage. Child actors will be paid.



Auditions will be by appointment only, and are set for Sept. 11th and 12th (auditions) and 13th (callbacks), 2014, in CPH's downtown rehearsal spaces. Appointment slots will be available BEGINNING AUGUST 15th. Please do not request an appointment prior to that date. Rehearsals will begin on November 4th and will be held after school and on weekends. The week of November 24th rehearsals will be during school hours. (There will be no rehearsal on Thanksgiving Day.) In addition to tech week, children will miss part or all of 4 school days for matinee performances. Performances are 7-8 shows a week from Nov. 29-Dec. 22?.



For the audition, children will read from sides which will be sent to you when you make your appointment.



Characters:

Ralphie - (9-12) Boy obsessed with planting the seeds to assure he'll get the ultimate Christmas present: a genuine Red Ryder BB gun. He is unsure of his feelings for Esther Jane, has a wild imagination, and is persistent, curious, and dramatic.


Flick - (9-12) One of Ralphie's best friends. A follower who is easy to pick on. He can't resist the triple dog dare and gets his tongue stuck to a lamppost. Has a sore arm. Also plays a Desperado.


Schwartz - (9-12) Another one of Ralphie's buddies. He likes trouble. He's a little more on the ball than Flick and gets him to do things he probably shouldn't. Also plays a Desperado.


Esther Jane - (9-12) Girl who has a crush on Ralphie. She is sweet, girly and likeable. Best friends with Helen.


Helen - (9-12) Smartest girl in the class. Likes to talk about politics and gossip. Best friends with Esther Jane.


Randy - (7-10) Ralphie's mischievous little brother who has a true fascination with Santa. Has to use the restroom at inopportune times. Ability to focus and to be still a plus.
