Imbibe a Bit of History Along with a Fighting Heart Brew
History on Tap: "The Irish and the Docks"
Great Lakes Brewing Company (downstairs)
Wednesday, September 24, 7:00 pm
Presented by the Irish American Archives Society
in conjunction with the Johnny Kilbane Sculpture Project
Like many Irish living in “The Angle," boxer Johnny Kilbane worked on the
docks in the early 1900s. The role of the Irish in Cleveland’s shipping and
transportation industries will be discussed, and a keg will be tapped of
the “limited edition” Fighting Heart brew that Great Lakes Brewing Company
first created in 2012 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Johnny Kilbane’s
first title fight. The talk is free; you've got to pay for the beer!
Thanks to the citizens of Cuyahoga County; a grant from Cuyahoga Arts and
Culture supports Kilbane programming in conjunction with the Johnny Kilbane
sculpture, which will be dedicated at Noon on September 28, 2014, in
Battery Park at West 75th and Fr. Frascati Blvd.
