ABOUT THE SHOW

[title of show] is an Obie Award-winning musical comedy that was also nominated for two Drama League Awards and a GLADD Award. Featuring a book by Hunter Bell with music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen, [title of show] is a musical comedy about two guys writing a musical about two guys writing a musical. The story is a semi-factual account about Bell and Bowen, who decide to enter a new musical theater festival with the deadline only three weeks away. Having nothing to lose, the pair decides to create something new with the help of their friends. According to the Daily News, their quirky journey is "wonderfully enjoyable! Smart, funny, and tuneful."

[title of show] - taken from the space on the festival's application form that asks for the [title of show] - follows the group of friends as they venture through the gauntlet of creative self-expression. "[title of show] is really quite the amazing piece of theatre," said Director Scott Spence. "It deftly manages to appeal to both musical theatre aficionados as well as anyone who may be fascinated by how a new musical ascends the ranks." In the span of 90 minutes, they write and perform their show while learning lessons about themselves as people, friends, and artists. "At the heart of it all, it is purely a story about four good friends who team together and overcome tremendous odds. The best musicals are about people, and [title of show] does it brilliantly."
With musical direction by Larry Goodpaster, [title of show] stars Will Sanborn and Pat Miller in the roles of Hunter and Jeff, and Amiee Collier and Caitlin Elizabeth Reilly as their friends Susan and Heidi. Equity actor Reilly appears courtesy of the Actors' Equity Association (AEA), the union of actors and stage managers. This production contains adult humor and language and is recommended for mature audiences.

Presented through special arrangement with R&H Theatricals, [title of show] is generously funded by Cuyahoga County residents through Cuyahoga Arts and Culture and the Ohio Arts Council.

Beck Center for the Arts is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization that offers l theater productions on two stages, arts education programming in dance, music, theater, visual arts, early childhood, and creative arts therapies for special needs students, and gallery exhibits featuring regional artists.
