Weathervane Playhouse, located at 1301 Weathervane Lane in Akron, Ohio,
will host a two hour presentation, *Trafficking: Community Impact, *on
Saturday, November 1, 2014 from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.   This   conference,
headlined by The Collaborative to End Human Trafficking, will give
attendees an opportunity to gain information on sexual and labor
trafficking and the legal and human rights impact in Northeast Ohio.  *Two
free Continuing Education credits are available for nurses, social workers**
and counselors in attendance. *

Per The Collaborative to End Human Trafficking website, “Human trafficking
is the 2nd largest crime occurring in the world.”  In Ohio, an estimated
1,078 minors are being trafficked per year and over 3,000 more are at risk.


Weathervane Playhouse was started in a barn in 1935 on Marshall Ave. in
Akron. In 1951 it grew to a 100-seat facility on Copley Rd. and then
relocated to Merriman Valley in 1970 where it boasts a 240-seat theatre, a
black box theatre and numerous classrooms. Weathervane’s vision in part is
to maintain “consistent excellence in high caliber, diverse, challenging
theater productions that compel our community to attend, participate in,
and discuss the ideas and human conditions that are presented on our
stages.” Community residents with an interest in seeing live theatre or
those seeking volunteer opportunities either onstage or backstage are
encouraged to visit the facility for a tour.
