"Rouge Étude Or How Sherlock Holmes Became A Misogynist"
by Deborah Magid
A game of violent seduction crescendos between Sherlock, a world-famous violinist, and his Strad.
In A Study In Scarlet, the first book in the Holmes canon, the young detective rhapsodizes about the playing of Wilma Norman-Neruda, the pre-eminent virtuoso violinist of the day. This play imagines a torrid relationship between 24-year-old Holmes, 50-year-old Norman-Neruda, and Holmes' 150-year-old Stradivarius violin, which the passion of Wilma's playing brings to life.

Seeking non-Equity actress 50-60. The role is violin virtuosa Wilma Norman-Neruda. Does NOT need to play violin. Does need vulnerability, fire, and a fine facility with dense, poetic language.

Rehearsals begin January 12, 2015 (eves and weekends), with one additional rehearsal day in late November/early-mid December. Pay offered.

Production February 12-14, 2015

Auditions November 13 and 16, 2014, by appointment only.
