*THE PLAYERS GUILD THEATRE PROUDLY PRESENTS:  THE GIVER*

CANTON, OH –Gasser Fine Jewelers and the Players Guild Theatre are proud to
announce the upcoming Mainstage production of THE GIVER.  Based on the
award winning book by Lois Lowry and adapted for the stage by Eric Coble,
THE GIVER focuses on the character of Jonas.  Jonas’ world is perfect.
Everything is under control and safe. There is no war or fear or pain.
There are also no choices. Every person is assigned a role in the
community. But when Jonas comes of age, he is chosen for special training
from The Giver—to receive and keep the memories of the community. The Giver
is the only person who holds the memories of real pain and real joy. Now
Jonas will learn the truth about life—and the hypocrisy of his utopian
world. Through this astonishing and moving adaptation, discover what it
means to grow up, to grow wise, and to take control of your own destiny.


Under the direction of Jonathan Tisevich, director of this season’s smash
hits, SWEENEY TODD and A CHRISTMAS CAROL, THE GIVER features a talented
cast which includes:

THE GIVER opens on Friday, February 27, 2015, and runs through March 8,
2015, with performances at 8:00 pm on Friday and Saturday, and at 2:00 pm
on Sunday.  Individual tickets for the performances are $25.00 for adults,
$19.00 for those 17 and younger and $23.00 for seniors.  Tickets for all
performances may be purchased online 24 hours a day at
www.playersguildtheatre.com or in person at the Players Guild Box Office,
located in the Great Court of the Cultural Center for the Arts, 1001 Market
