The deadline for the Baldwin Wallace University High School summer program, the Conservatory Summer Intensive<http://www.bw.edu/academics/conservatory/outreach/smp/csi/index.html> is fast approaching! This is your reminder that applications, auditions and deposits are due postmarked by April 1. This year, the Conservatory Summer intensive will be held from July 12 through July 25.

We are waiving the auditions for members of a wide variety of high-quality selective youth ensembles; the full list is available on the CSI "How to Apply"<http://www.bw.edu/academics/conservatory/outreach/smp/csi/audition/> web site. Live auditions will also be held on campus March 28, in lieu of submitting a recorded audition. Call our office for details, 440-826-8068.

The BW CSI: Conservatory Summer Intensive<http://www.bw.edu/academics/conservatory/outreach/smp/csi/index.html> is a 2-week program for high school students from July 12-25, 2015 under the direction of Bryan L. Bowser, Artistic Director; Laura Joss, Instrumental Director; and Sally Schneider, Vocal Director. This program allows students to investigate college music study while exploring careers in music for violin, viola, cello, double bass, harp, flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba, percussion, piano, organ, and voice.

Participating students will have the opportunity to study with members of the BW Conservatory faculty, Cleveland Orchestra and Cavani String Quartet. CSI will include private lessons, choir, orchestra, wind ensemble, theory/ear training courses, and a wide variety of elective courses (noted below.) Accepted students will also have the option to choose to participate in the specialized tracks listed below.

Specialized Tracks include:

  * Music Theatre (vocal students only)
  * Chamber Music (string students only)
  *   Composition
  * Keyboard (piano & organ students only)
  *   Jazz

CSI Elective courses include:

  *   Composition
  *   Improvisation
  *   Conducting
  *   Music Technology
  *   Group Piano Class
  *   Group Guitar Class
  *   Group Voice
  * Percussion Ensemble (percussion students only)
  *   Alexander Technique

We also understand it can be difficult for high school students to prepare for college auditions. To give students a leg up in their preparation for college auditions, CSI participants who are current juniors can elect to participate in the APP: Audition Preparation Program during CSI. APP students will participate in: audition preparation classes, mock auditions and master classes; and receive two additional, 45-minute private lessons.

CSI residential students are housed in the newly renovated and air-conditioned Davidson Commons. The housing arrangements are suite-style housing which includes units with two-person bedrooms, a shared bathroom and small common area. The Commons are located within close proximity to the Conservatory. For information and photos of the new facility please check out the Davidson Commons web page.

In addition to CSI, we continue to offer our highly successful camps for middle school students (String, Piano, Band and Music Theatre) during the last two weeks of June. High school juniors looking for the best college music theatre audition preparation can still apply for Music Theatre Overtures with Victoria Bussert for an intensive week of training including private voice lessons, daily workshop monologue and dance classes.

If you have any questions about the application process feel free to contact me at (440) 826-2365 or email the Conservatory Outreach office at conreach at bw.edu<mailto:conreach at bw.edu>.
