BOOK CLUB (ROOM 26BC)

missing in popular comics and offer their own creations as a means to
jumpstart a conversation.

5:30 - 6:15PM NASA AND THE SCIENCE OF SUPERMAN (ROOM 26A)

"Faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive. Able to
leap tall buildings in a single bound." These are just a few of Superman's
incredible abilities thanks to his origin as a 'strange visitor from another
planet.' From his 1938 creation by Clevelanders Jerry Siegel and Joe
Shuster, the 'man of tomorrow' has been rooted in science fiction.
Superman's origin and abilities will be contrasted with science fact
underlying some of NASA's amazing accomplishments.

6:30 - 7:15PM LEGEND TO LEGACY: CLEVELAND'S SUPERMAN STATUE PROJECT (ROOM

Back in the 1930s, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster created the first version of

the Man of Steel has become one of the most recognizable figures in the
world and the cornerstone of a new mythology. Now, eighty years later, the
city of Cleveland will honor Siegel and Shuster with a statue recognizing
that great achievement. The panel will review the latest news on the project
and the long journey to make that dream a reality.
