Playmakers Youth Theatre in Beachwood is seeking a technical director for THIS SUMMER as well as our year round program.  We would like to fill this position ASAP, as camp and the associated tech classes and set building begin in June.  Job description is below.  Very accommodating of other theatre work and projects.

Production Director½ time,non-union position. Reports directly to the Youth Theatre Director.  Hours vary due to performance schedules.JobSummary:    
   - ResidentScenographer
   - Servesas Technical Supervisor for productions including but not limited to: 5Playmakers’ productions, 9 Francine and Benson Pilloff Family Performing ArtsCamp shows, and any future tours 
   - Responsiblefor technical oversight of all Playmakers, Performing Arts Camp, and sponsoredevents that take place in Fairmount Temple Theatre, Stonehill Auditorium, orother related venues
   - Actsas technical contact/consultant for all other JCC sponsored and non-JCC theatrerelated projects that fall under the umbrella of Playmakers and Performing ArtsCamp
PrimaryResponsibilities   
   - Responsiblefor designs and technical aspects of productions/events sponsored byPlaymakers, including construction, installation, and overall completion ofscenery, lighting, sound, properties, special effects required for eachproduction.
   - Ordermaterial as needed
   - Planbudget with Director of Youth Theatre
   - Responsiblefor:      
      - Maintainingall equipment and materials
      - Arrangingfor equipment rentals
      - Locatingand securing backstage crews (for construction, installation, run crew, andstrike)

   - Attendand assist during all production meetings
   - Attendand assist during dry tech, wet tech or full tech, and tech week rehearsals
   - Strikeshows following the last performance of each production
   - Teachas needed in Performing Arts Camp
   - Whererentals and other special events are not sponsored by Playmakers or PerformingArts Camp, the Production Director’s responsibilities are to the facility andits equipment.  He/she shall not beexpected to design or make provisions for these events, which may negativelyimpact upcoming sponsored scheduled productions and events.
   - Consultwith Playmakers Director in developing long range and short range plans,seasons, and maintaining production values
Qualifications   
   - BFAin Technical Direction or Scenic Design with at least 5 years ofexperience.  
   - MFApreferred
   - Abilityto work well with others
   - Multi-tasking
   - Workwithin budget and production deadlines
   - Strongtechnical expertise and problem solving ability
   - Designexperience in all areas of technical theatre (sound, lighting, props)
   - Welding,building, painting skills
   - Teachingexperience 
   - Pastexperience in light design, sound, knowledge of tools, techniques used to liveentertainment, specifically at this facility
   - Provenelectrical ability
   - Abilityto read/translate ground plans and blueprints 
   - Proficiencyin scenic painting
   - Teamskills – cooperation, creativity, good humor
   - Flexibilitywith schedules and tasks
   - Abilityto communication effectively and patiently with representatives from other JCCdepartments
