[NEohioPAL] Nerd Swing Dance this Friday in Lakewood!

Calling all nerds!! This is our annual pi dance where we celebrate our geeky nerdiness openly! 

Wanna dress like a Tardis? That's cool! Want to dress like a band geek? That's awesome too! 

The cost of the dance is $12 per person or $10 for students and seniors with a valid ID. If you are brand new to the Get Hep Swing dances you may attend for only $5. 

Be sure to arrive in time to take part in the easy jitterbug lesson from 8pm to 9pm with the swing geeks from Get Hep Swing! Geek number one is physics aficionado, Megan Hallstrom.  Geek number two is computer scientist, David Aghassi.

The first 30 people to arrive at the dance will receive a complimentary pi pencil. So many digits on one little pencil. ♥

Immediately after the lesson (at 9 PM) Hepcat Revival will kick off an awesome night of music and swing dancing until 12am. Be sure to pay attention to the songs that Hepcat plays. They have some special songs that fit our nerdy theme perfectly! When was the last time you danced to a jazzy version of the "Spiderman" theme song? Or to a swing song about plate tectonics? 

Be sure to wear your geekiest, nerdiest attire as we will be having a costume contest! Costume contest will take place during the first band break around 10pm. We have some awesomly nerdy prizes! (you should try your best to win)

We are also selling pie as a fundraiser for our Cleveland Junior Jitterbugs swing dance program.* One slice is $3, 2 slices for $5 and a whole pie is $12. (If you would like to bake or buy and donate a pie to our cause that would be terrific. Please message me)

*Our after-school, swing dance program was not funded this year but we are still taking 6-8 youth to the International Lindy Hop Championships near DC and to the National Jitterbug Championships in LA. Each couple will train all Summer long as they learn a unique routine to perform at both events. 

Everyone is welcome to come and have fun with us at the swing dance. There is no need to have previous dance experience or a dance partner.

Most people dress casually, I mean nerdy! The best shoes to wear are comfortable and allow you to spin easily.

The Lakewood Masonic Temple is located at 15300 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio 44107. There is a parking lot in the back and plenty of street parking available too. Please enter the building through the front double doors.
