Anniversary Committee Member Bernice Bolek reflects on the milestone. “In 1927, a small group of women on the West Shore began producing live theater in the Little Red School House and for 40 years moved their productions around to multiple high school auditoriums. They called themselves the Bay Village Players, and they finally approached the City with an interest in Walter Clague’s old barn. In 1967, the City of Westlake leased the barn to them and supported their fund-raising campaign to renovate and upgrade the barn. Today, with new seating in place and audiences growing, it has gained prominence in Westlake.”
