Near West Theatre Seeks Applicants for a *Temporary Technical
Director/Carpenter*


NEAR WEST THEATRE IS SEEKING TO FILL THE POSITION OF TECHNICAL DIRECTOR FOR
A ONE MONTH PERIOD – MARCH 19TH THRU APRIL 13TH 2018.  OUR CURRENT
TECHNICAL DIRECTOR WILL BE ON PATERNAL LEAVE WITH THE BIRTH OF HIS FIRST
CHILD.  WE ARE SEEKING A QUALIFIED REPLACEMENT TO FILL IN THIS POSITION IN
HIS ABSENCE.  THE PRODUCTION IS HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME.  SCENIC DESIGNER
IS CAMERON MICHALAK.  FINAL DESIGNS WILL BE IN PLACE AND WE WILL BE IN THE
MIDDLE OF THE BUILD SO MUCH OF THE SCENIC CONSTRUCTION WILL ALREADY BE
UNDERWAY

QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of professional experience. Valid driver’s
license required. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to
perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the job summary.



KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

He/She must be able to delegate job assignments, supervise/assists with set
and stage construction and management.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work enthusiastically with a
wide range of individuals to foster productive partnerships and
relationships.

Basic computer skills and an ability to use job specific software
(VECTORWORKS) to create working drawings if necessary.

Possess good judgment, sensitivity, analytical skills, and the ability to
multi-task and prioritize.

Must be tenacious, flexible and able to “think on one’s feet.”

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discreet judgment.

Ability to work without supervision and to make independent judgments.

Ability to work within a complex system and coordinate with appropriate
departments.

Attention to detail and follow-through.

Strong communications and organizational skills.

Agree to flexible hours, including overnights, evenings and weekends.

Able to work at any height using appropriate safety equipment on
scaffolding, ladders, lifts, grids, et al.

Able to work in noisy environments.


PHYSICAL ABILITIES

A steady energy level and a calm demeanor.

Must be able to withstand long hours of concentrated physical activity.

Physical limitations cannot hinder the ability to perform tasks.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds overhead.
