About the Show:

The Importance of Being Earnest is the most renowned of Oscar Wilde's comedies. It's the story of two bachelors, John 'Jack' Worthing and Algernon 'Algy' Moncrieff, who create alter egos named Ernest to escape their tiresome lives. They attempt to win the hearts of two women who, conveniently, claim to only love men called Ernest. The pair struggle to keep up with their own stories and become tangled in a tale of deception, disguise and misadventure. The elaborate plot ridicules Victorian sensibilities with some of the best loved, and indeed bizarre, characters to be found on the modern stage.

Rehearsals will be Mon-Thu 6:30-9:30 pm & Sun TBA

Performance Dates:
April 20-29, 2018
Fridays/Saturdays 7:30 pm; Sunday matinees 2:00 pm in the Corning Auditorium.
NOTE:  There will be a 1:00 pm senior matinee on Wednesday, April 25, 2018.

Requirements & Preparation:

  *   Cold readings from the script.  Please be familiar with the show.
  *   Must be available for all performances, including the senior matinee.
  *   Bring a headshot or snapshot of yourself to attach to our paperwork.
  *   Bring a list of any and all conflicts beginning February 26, 2018.
  *   Must be available for all tech week rehearsals beginning April 15, 2018.

Algernon Moncreiff - Age 21-29

Rev. Canon Chasuble - Age 50-64

Merriman - Ages 30-65

Lane - Ages 30-65

Women:

Lady Bracknell - Age 50-65 (Open to reading men for this role as well)

Gwendolen Fairfax - Age 25-29

Cecily Cardew - Age 18

Miss Prism - Age 50-65

The Fine Arts Association supports non-traditional casting.
