Broadview Heights Spotlights’ Summer YouthMusical: 
Be More Chill
BroadviewHeights Spotlights’ announces its summer youth production, Be More Chill with music and lyricsby JoeIconis and book by Joe Tracz. The musical is based on the novel Be More Chill by Ned Vizzini.  Theshow premiered in the summer of 2015 at the Two River Theater in Red Bank, New Jerseyand the original cast recording quickly developed a cult followingamong young musical theater fans.  Itsrelatable characters and rock-inspired score resonated with young musicaltheater fans. Shortly before the Spotlights’ held their auditions, an announcementwas made that the musical will make its New-York, Off-Broadway premiere in alimited-engagement run later this summer. 
This modern coming-of-age musical features JeremyHere, not the coolest kid in school, who is presented with a unique,technological opportunity to experience popularity.  He learns that fitting in and being cool cancome with great costs.  The Spotlights’ castof 16 talented teenagers includes Nicholas Beiser, Delia Brennan, ArielBrinker, Kyla Burks, Clorise Busch, Casey Cipollone, Nicholas DeAngelis, AlyssaGruttadauria, Dylan Grosh-Hoy, Derek Walton II, Molly Molina, Declan Newton,James Newton, Alicia Pedraza, Ian Stewart, and Addie Wisniewski.
Spotlights’ Education Director Tim Anderson is directinghis twelfth summer youth production at the theater. “This show is uniquebecause it portrays teenagers honestly,” says Anderson.  “Even though it’s a fun science fiction-themedadventure, there’s a wonderful, truth-filled lesson about social choices andself-discovery.”  Ryan Bergeron providesmusical direction, Charlie Jones is the lighting designer, and Kaylea Kudlatyis the costumer.  Adam Bowers and JillHolland Beiser serve as producers.  
The show contains themes and language that arerecommended only for a mature audience. The show runs June 21 – July 1, 2018. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday matineesbegin at 3:00 p.m.  Tickets are $15 foradults and $14 for seniors and students.  For the past several years, theSpotlights’ Summer Youth Productions have sold-out their entire runs beforeopening night.  Reservations are stronglyencouraged and must be made on-line at www.broadview-heights-spotlights.org.  #
