[NEohioPAL] Akron Symphony Orchestra Auditions for WEST SIDE STORY, Concert Version

The Akron Symphony Orchestra announces auditions for a concert version (all
the music, some of the dialogue, no choreography) of Leonard Bernstein’s
WEST SIDE STORY, to be performed on May 4, 2019 at 8 PM at EJ Thomas Hall
in Akron. Maestro Christopher Wilkins conducts; Craig Joseph stage
directs; Ryan
Bergeron music directs.

Initial auditions will take place on Saturday, September 22nd, from 11 AM -
3 PM at First United Methodist Church, 263 E. Mill Street, in Akron.
Callbacks, as necessary, will be held on Monday, September 24th, from 6 - 9
PM at the same location.

All roles paid; Equity contracts available, if needed. An ethnically
diverse cast is desired. Also, as this is a concert version with some
latitude, we are NOT looking exclusively for twenty-somethings.

Rehearsals will begin in early April, with a few music rehearsals a week,
and will increase in frequency the week prior to May 4th for light staging
and tech.

Available roles are as follows:

D - This character speaks dialogue.
S - This character sings solo portions.
T - This character sings as part of a group.

Those interested in auditioning should:

appointment. If you have a digital version of a headshot and resume, please
include that in your submission. If not, no worries.

Prepare 32 bars of music from a musical of your choice. Please bring sheet
music for an accompanist who will be available to you at auditions.

Also, please bring your calendar to auditions, as we will be asking you
about scheduling conflicts.
