Stocker Arts Center’s Film Series Tickets on Sale Now

Tickets for the Stocker Arts Center’s 2018 Fall Film Series are on sale now. The film series, held in the Hoke Theatre, features the finest art, independent, classic and foreign films, and includes:

The Guardians
Friday, September 21, 2018 at 7:30 pm
The women of the Paridier farm must grapple with the workload while the men, including two sons, are off at the front. Filmmaker Xavier Beauvois revels in the mysteries and beauties of the French countryside, here unravaged by war, yet keeps his focus on the drama that plays out against the upheaval of the Great War.

Lives Well Lived and My Afternoons With Margueritte (double feature)

A double feature of Lives Well Lived showcasing 40 adults from 75 to 100 years old who are living their lives to the fullest and My Afternoons with Margueritte where afternoons spent reading aloud on their favorite bench transform two lives and start them both on a new journey.

The story of the Nazi occupation as seen through the eyes of two young Jewish boys. Joseph and Maurice are 10 and 12, and have no real understanding of the persecution of Jews. These tenacious urchins survive on courage, ingenuity and more than a bit of cunning as they make their way through France hoping to reunite with their family.

On The Seventh Day follows a group of undocumented immigrants living in Sunset Park, Brooklyn over the course of seven days. They work long hours six days a week and then spend Sundays on the soccer fields. When their team makes it to the finals, a wrench is thrown into the celebration when one of the players is told he has to work on Sunday.
Shine
Friday, November 9, 2018 at 7:30 p.m.
The true life story of piano virtuoso David Helfgott, Shine captures a remarkable journey in flashback, a personal tale of creative passion and musical achievement, celebrating the ineluctable power of human endearment.
Moonstruck
Friday, November 16, 2018 at 7:30 p.m.
Moonstruck is about a widowed, 37-year-old Italian-American woman who falls in love with her fiancé’s estranged, hot-tempered younger brother. A now-classic romantic comedy, it was nominated for six Oscars and won for Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress and Best Original Screenplay.
