[NEohioPAL] Paid Position: Assistant Stage Manager for Carnival at Near West Theatre

Near West Theatre seeks an Assistant Stage Manager for its upcoming production of Carnival.  This is a paid position.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•         Assist with managing rehearsal process and maintain proper documentation of blocking and technical elements.

•         Assist with managing tech rehearsal process and maintain proper documentation for run of show.

•         Supervise and direct crew for run of show.

•         Assist with managing crew and cast call times, sound checks, performances and sightlines.

•         Attend tech notes following each night of tech.

•         Assist with managing emergency situations if they arise during rehearsals and performances (will be trained on company procedures)

•         Help maintain rehearsal and performance spaces.

Required Skills:

•         Astute attention to detail

•         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally, collaborating with others

•         Must be able to solve problems as and when they may arise

•         Strong organizational and adaptability skills

•         Positive attitude and the ability to remain effective under pressure while managing staff and motivating teams for best results.




Rehearsals started September 23rd.  The rehearsal and performance schedule are as follows:

•         Rehearsals are Sunday-Wednesday.  (with the exception of two possible Thursday rehearsals to  make up for holidays)

•         Sunday Rehearsals: 2p-10:30p, Monday-Wednesday 7:00p-10:30p

•         Dry Tech: Saturday, November 10th from 11a-4p

•         Tech Week: Sunday, November 11th from 11a-10p, Monday, November 12th-Thursday, November 15th 5p-10:30p

•         Performances: November 16, 17, 23, 24, 25, 29, 30, December 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9

•         Curtain Times for Thursday-Saturday performances are 7:30p, Sundays are 3p.
