AUDITIONS - 13 - Beck Center Youth Theater

Beck Center for the Arts Youth Theater, one of the oldest continuously running Youth Theaters in the country, will be holding auditions on January 12 & 13, 2019 for the third production of our 70th Anniversary Season:

13

Music and Lyrics by Jason Robert Brown

Book by Dan Elish and Robert Horn

Directed by Jonathan Kronenberger

Music Direction by Larry Goodpaster

Choreography by Caitlin Riley

The Story:
Geek. Poser. Jock. Beauty Queen. Wannabe. These are the labels that can last a lifetime. Evan Goldman is plucked from his fast-paced, preteen New York City life and plopped into a sleepy Indiana town following his parents' divorce. Surrounded by an array of simpleminded middle school students, he needs to establish his place in the popularity pecking order. Can he situate himself on a comfortable link of the food chain ... or will he dangle at the end with the outcasts?!? 13 is a musical about fitting in - and standing out!

Audition/Callback dates: (open to Beck Center students ages 12 to 19*)

Saturday, January 12: 2:30 to 5:30pm

& Sunday, January 13: 1:00 to 3:00 pm

Callbacks: Monday, January 14 between 5:00 and 8:30pm

Please sign up for a one hour time slot (starting 1/1/19) at the Beck Center's Customer Service Desk. You may sign up for a one-hour audition slot at Beck Center Customer Service or by calling 216-521-2540 x10.

*Please note: Youth Theater roles are only eligible to students who will be enrolled in our Winter/Spring 2019 semester. Actors do not need to be enrolled at the time of the auditions, however, participation in the actual production does require Beck Center enrollment in Winter/Spring 2019 semester. Students do not need to be specifically enrolled in a Theater class at Beck Center to qualify. Students enrolled in a Winter/Spring 2019 semester class in Beck Center's Dance, Music and Visual Arts Departments are equally eligible.

Bottom line: if you are accepting a role in the show, you will need to enroll prior to the start of rehearsals. Any questions, please feel free to contact Sarah Clare, Associate Director of Theater Education, at sclare at beckcenter.org<mailto:sclare at beckcenter.org>.

Our Winter/Spring 2019 catalog is available online at http://www.beckcenter.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/19-WINTERSPRING-12-19-18-final-PDF.pdf
