Based on the iconic 1969 rock concept album, "The Who's Tommy" is an exhilarating story of hope, healing and the human spirit. The story of the pinball-playing, deaf, dumb and blind boy who triumphs over his adversities has inspired, amazed and puzzled audiences for more than 40 years. This five-time Tony Award-winning musical was translated to the stage by the theatrical wizard, Des McAnuff, into a high-energy, one-of-a-kind theatrical event.

After witnessing the accidental murder of his mother's lover by his father, Tommy is traumatized into catatonia and, as the boy grows, he suffers abuse at the hands of his sadistic relatives and neighbors. As an adolescent, he's discovered to have an uncanny knack for playing pinball and, when his mother finally breaks through his catatonia, he becomes an international pinball superstar.

CASTING REQUIREMENTS
We are seeking to cast a diverse cast of talented and committed performers ages 16 and older - except for two younger performers to portray Tommy at different ages (one as a 4- to 6-year-old and one slightly older as a 10- to 12-year-old). Parents are urged to familiarize themselves with the material in advance of the auditions. WHAT TO PREPARE FOR THE AUDITION
Please prepare 32 bars of music from a song in the style of the show - but NOT a song from the show. Please bring sheet music for your song (in the appropriate key) with you to the audition; an accompanist will be provided.

Please bring your calendar with you to the auditions in order to declare any scheduling conflicts between July 28 and Sept. 8.

WHEN ARE THE REHEARSALS?
Rehearsals begin July 28 and will typically be held Sundays through Thursdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Technical rehearsals take place every day beginning Sept. 8. Attendance at all technical rehearsals is mandatory.

WHEN ARE THE PERFORMANCES?
"The Who's Tommy" will play for 12 performances between Thursday, Sept. 12 and Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019.

Performances days and times:
Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.
Sundays at 2:30 p.m.
