Beck Center for the Arts Youth Theater, one of the oldest continuously running Youth Theaters in the country, will be holding auditions on October 5 & 6, 2019 for the second production of our 2019-2020 Season:

Once Upon A Decade
Written and Directed by Rachel Spence

The Story:
Cinderella in the 70's? Rapunzel in the 60's? Come enjoy this zany comedy as Beck Center preteens give a new meaning to “once upon a time” when they set all your favorite fairy tales and fables in different decades. This retro comedy will be the bee's knees, groovy and totally tubular! From the director of last year’s Law & Order: Nursery Rhyme Unit, and the author of the uproarious All Greek To Me.

Audition/Callback dates: (open to Beck Center students ages 6 to 12*)

  *   Saturday, October 5: 2:00 to 5:00pm

& Sunday, October 6: 12:00 to 3:00pm

  *   Callbacks: Monday, October 7 from 5:00 to 8:00pm

You may sign up for a five minute audition slot at Beck Center Customer Service or by calling 216-521-2540 x10.

*Please note: Youth Theater roles are only eligible to students who will be enrolled in our Fall 2019 semester. Actors do not need to be enrolled at the time of the auditions, however, participation in the actual production does require Beck Center enrollment in our Fall 2019 semester. Students do not need to be specifically enrolled in a Theater class at Beck Center to qualify. Students enrolled in a Fall 2019 semester class in Beck Center’s Dance, Music and Visual Arts Departments are equally eligible.

Bottom line: if you are accepting a role in the show, you will need to enroll prior to the start of rehearsals. Any questions, please feel free to contact Sarah Clare, Associate Director of Theater Education, at sclare at beckcenter.org.

Our Fall 2019 catalog is available online at https://static1.squarespace.com/static/5c9ae157ca525b79e8f35998/t/5d28a2ef15314e0001e3b0ee/1562944246018/19+Fall+Catalog+FINAL+7.12.19.pdf

Unlike some other youth theaters, there is NO additional participation fee required beyond enrollment.

  * Students are asked to prepare a short monologue or poem to present as their audition piece. Memorization is strongly encouraged.
