Stocker Arts Center Presents LCCC Winter/Spring Film Series

Stocker Arts Center presents the Winter/Spring Film Series on the Lorain County Community College campus. Films are screened on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. in the Hoke Theatre. The series includes:

February 7 - The Bridges of Madison County
The brief, illicit love affair between an Iowa housewife and a post-middle-age free-lance photographer is chronicled in this powerful romance starring Meryl Streep and Clint Eastwood.

February 21 - Give Me Liberty
Medical transport driver Vic is late because roads are closed for a protest and no one else can shuttle his Russian grandfather and friends to a funeral. As the day goes on, their ride becomes a hilarious, compassionate, and overlapping portrait of American dreams and disenchantment.
March 6 - The Station Agent
When his only friend dies, Finbar McBride moves to an abandoned train station in New Jersey, to live the life of a hermit. His attempt at solitude is soon interrupted by his neighbors, Olivia, an artist coping with the death of her son, and Joe, who has a talent for cooking and a hunger for conversation.

March 27 - The Red Violin
A famous Bussotti violin, known as "the red violin," is being auctioned off. During the auction, we flash back to its creation in 17th century Italy, and follow it as it makes its way through an 18th century Austrian monastery, a violinist in 19th century Oxford, China and back to Montreal, where a collector tries to establish the identity and the secrets of "the red violin."

April 10 - Working Woman
To help support her family Oma returns to the workplace, landing a job with a former army superior, who is now a real estate developer. She begins to experience escalating sexual harassment from her boss. This is a timely story, told by feminist filmmaker Michal Aviad.

April 24 - Britt-Marie Was Here
Based on the best-selling novel by Fredrik Backman, author of "A Man Called Ove," this comedy finds Britt-Marie, age 63, re-considering her purpose after leaving her husband of 40 years.

Tickets for films are $7 each. The Stocker Box Office is open Monday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m. and 90 minutes prior to ticketed events.
