FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Rabbit Run Theater announces cancellation of 2020 summer shows

(MADISON) This summer marks the 40 th anniversary of the 1980 reopening of Rabbit Run Theater. Every summer since 1980 patrons have been welcomed to live theatrical productions at this historic barn theater near the shoes of Lake Erie.

For the last six weeks the Board of Directors of Rabbit Run Community Arts Association (RRCAA), which operates Rabbit Run Theater, has been closely following updates regarding the spread of COVID-19 and abiding by the recommendations of the Ohio Department of Health and the Lake County General Health District.

A final decision regarding the theater for this summer was held off until Monday when Governor DeWine announced his Responsible RestartOhio Plan.

The greatest concern is always for the safety and well being of theater patrons, staff and volunteers. With that in mind the decision was made by the Board to cancel the 2020 Rabbit Run Theater season.

It is the hope of the RRCAA Board that, as the summer progresses, State guidelines will allow for larger gatherings. Should this be the case, it may be possible to offer one or more of the intended productions from the season.

Rabbit Run Theater is one of the few original barn theaters still in operation in Ohio and is typically open every summer from the beginning of June through the end of August. The theater is located at 5648 W. Chapel Rd., Madison.

RRCAA is a comprehensive fine arts association offering year-round instruction in all the major disciplines of the fine and performing arts and also operates Rabbit Run Theater. Partial funding is provided by the Ohio Arts Council, Dworken & Bernstein, Hearn Plumbing and Heating, Huffman-Meyer Wealth Mgmt. Group and Lighthouse Advisers.
