Announce The City Is Our Stage Performing Arts Event

CLEVELAND, OH — Trad Burns, Sarah Morrison, and Chuck Karnak announce the brand new event, The City is Our Stage. Created to celebrate and showcase some of Cleveland’s best Singers, Dancers, Actors, Musicians, Aerialists, and Performing Artists who currently don’t have a live performance outlet due to the Covid-19 crisis. With the temporary closure of Cleveland performance venues, The City Is Our Stage will take you, our Artistic Travelers, on an adventure through Cleveland's wide-ranging neighborhoods to discover a mystery bag of sight-specific artistic performances from the comfort of your automobile.

During this unusual time, we are all craving live performance! Now, you can get in your car with your loved ones, and soak in multiple performances at locations throughout the greater Cleveland area! Join us for this unique traveling show-where YOU are the one that travels!
 
As travelers, you will be able to purchase a ticket by choosing from an East Side, West Side, Downtown, or "Surprise me" location. Then you will have the opportunity to see different performances of varying styles. As an artistic traveler, you will have no idea what performance style you will get to see next, truly making this an adventure.
Each artistic journey will take around 2 hours, including short travel times between performances. Starting times vary by location.
 
100% of the ticket sales will be split evenly between each artists participating in The City Is Our Stage. We as organizers felt it was important to be able to share all of the ticket proceeds with our performers. With such uncertainly on when we will get to perform again, we wanted to be able to share even a little bit of money with everyone. It is important that the amazing Cleveland area audiences do not forget about how much the performing arts give back to our community.

A 2019 study by Ohio Citizens for the Arts suggests that Ohio’s writers, performers and other creatives account for a $41-billion contribution to the economy, and Americans for the Arts estimates that over 60% of entertainment workers are unemployed with no idea on when they will be able to return to work. The City Is Our Stage was created as an opportunity for our local artists to have an opportunity once again to perform in front of a “live” audience during this strange time. 

Since the start of the Covid-19 crisis, Sarah, Chuck and Trad immediately started to toss around ideas on how we could get our friends back to performing. We heard of this great idea of the audiences traveling between performing locations in Seattle and decided that this could work in our area. We are so happy about the artists involved and it really represents a great cross section of everything the Greater Cleveland area has to offer.

We are so excited to have an incredible group of diverse acts and talents to showcase what the Greater Cleveland area has to offer.
