How to Audition?

Initial auditions will be held via video submission.   Please submit a short one-two minute contemporary comedic monologue to director, Chris Bizub (cmb164 at zips.uakron.edu) by December 5th, 2020 at 5pm. Please include the following in your email:

·         Name

·         Contact Information (Email & Phone Number)

·         Your availability for rehearsals between January 4th - February 21st, 2021 (between 6:30pm and 9:30pm Monday-Thursday).

·         Attach a current headshot and resume (or a short list of previous roles)

·         Character you are interested in playing?

·         Are you willing to accept any role?

·         Please include your availability to attend callbacks

If you don’t have a short comedic monologue prepared, please email the director and you will be sent character sides you can record in place of a monologue.

If you have any other difficulties with submitting a video monologue or character sides, feel free to contact the director at cmb164 at zips.uakron.edu and we can work to make other arrangements.

Callbacks

Callback will be held virtually by appointment via ZOOM on Monday, December 7th , between 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM.  If you are called back you will receive an email from the director on either December  5th or December 6th.

Rehearsal & Performances

Rehearsals and filming will primarily be held virtually starting the week of January 4th, 2021.  Although, expect that we will have a read-through/informational meeting during the week of December 14th.  While it is our intention that all filming will be able to be done from home via the Zoom app, however some limited filming may need to take place at the theatre depending on the needs of the production.  Any on-site filming would be limited to a single performer, the director, and a representative from the theatre, would be dependent on the individual actors comfort level.  Cast members will also be asked to pick up any costumes, props, or small set pieces (expect something similar to a picture frame, or small furniture piece) at Cassidy Theatre in January.  If you have any difficulties with picking up items from the theatre, contact the director and he will make reasonable accommodations for you.

Electronic Requirements

All performers must have a device with a web camera and reliable internet access.

Available Roles

NARRATOR – Similar to the criminologist in Rocky Horror

WADSWORTH – a traditional British butler in every sense: uptight, formal, and “by-the-book.” He is the driving force of the play.

YVETTE – a loyal and sexy French maid.

MISS SCARLET – a dry, sardonic DC Madam, more interested in secrets than sex.

MRS. PEACOCK – the wealthy wife of a Senator, a bit batty, neurotic, and quick to hysteria.

MRS. WHITE – a pale, morbid, and tragic woman. Mrs. White may or may not be the murderer of her five ex-husbands.

COLONEL MUSTARD – a puffy, pompous, dense, blow-hard of a military man.

PROFESSOR PLUM – an arrogant academic, easily impressed by himself.

MR. GREEN – a timid, yet officious, rule follower. He’s awfully anxious.

MR. BODDY – a slick Frank Sinatra/film noir-esque type fella (alive and dead)

THE MOTORIST – a professional driver (alive and dead)

THE COOK – a gruff woman with a threatening presence (alive and dead)

SINGING-TELEGRAM GIRL – a tap dancer with a heart of gold (alive and dead)

CHIEF OF POLICE – a cop who helps save the day

THE UNEXPECTED COP – a regular joe (alive and dead)

BACKUP COP #1

BACKUP COP #2

Some actors will be cast in multiple roles to create a small 3-4 person ensemble playing the all characters with smaller roles.

Show Synopsis

Based on the iconic 1985 Paramount movie which was inspired by the classic Hasbro board game, Clue is a hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery. The tale begins at a remote mansion, where six mysterious guests assemble for an unusual dinner party where murder and blackmail are on the menu. When their host turns up dead, they all become suspects. Led by the butler Wadsworth, Miss Scarlet, Professor Plum, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock and Colonel Mustard race to find the killer as the body count stacks up. The characters and the audience must try to figure out...WHO did it, WHERE, and with WHAT!
