Little  Women AuditionAnnouncement for Medina County Show Biz Company


 This will be a limited-cast production with only ten roles available; 6 Women and 4 Men. All roles available. This show will be auditioned, rehearsed and produced in compliance with approved COVID-19 safety guidelines.
Auditions will be held January 12th and 14th. Callbacks to be determined. Please prepare 2 contrasting songs in the style of the show, no longer than 32 bars in length. Performances will be March 5, 6, and 7 and March 12,13, and 14.
For safety purposes, we will accept virtual auditions. Please email a copy of your virtual audition to shhhtephen at gmail.comno later than 10:00PM on January 14th.While we will accept virtual auditions, if needed, you will be required to attend in-person call-backs.
The roles available:
Jo March-- The second oldest sister, Jo is passionate, adventurous, and brave. She loves her family deeply, and yet is fiercely independent and ambitious. She rebels against having to wear dresses and “behave” like women and girls of her time. She dreams of becoming a famous writer. Vocal Range: A5 to E3.
Meg March (Doubles as Clarissa)-- The oldest March sister. She works as a governess. Meg is world-weary, yet hopeful, and she yearns for a great life. She falls in love with and marries Mr. John Brooke. Vocal Range: Gb5 to A#3.
Beth March (Doubles as Rodrigo 2)-- The second youngest sister who tragically dies of scarlet fever. She is a peace-maker, lover and an optimist who always encourages her sisters to dream. She loves music and plays the piano. Vocal Range: G5 to A3.
Amy March (Doubles as Troll)-- The youngest sister who is energetic with a rather pompous air about her. Amy is a passionate artist who enjoys visual beauty and is given to fits of pouting, temper, and vanity. She ends up falling in love with and marrying Laurie. Vocal Range: Gb5 to Cb4.
Marmee March (Doubles as Hag)-- The girls’ mother is the strong backbone of the family who is lovingly holding her family together while her husband is at war. She is generous, loving and the strong backbone of the family. Vocal Range: Eb5 to Eb3.

Aunt March (Doubles as Mrs. Kirk)-- The girls’ grand-aunt is a formidable, overbearing, wealthy socialite who wants to make Jo conform to society's expectations of her. She eventually takes Amy under her wing. Though crotchety and a force, she loves her nieces and wants the best for them. Vocal Range: F5 to E3.
Professor Bhaer-- A German professor who lives in Mrs. Kirk’s boarding house and eventually falls in love with Jo, accepting her for all of who she is. Vocal Range: F#4 to G2

Laurie (Doubles as Rodrigo)-- The bright-eyed, optimistic boy next door who is the same age as Jo. Laurie is charming, but initially shy and becomes like a brother to the March sisters. He has a big heart and initially loves Jo, but later falls in love with Amy. Vocal Range: Bb4 to Bb2.
Mr. Laurence (Doubles as Knight)-- Laurie’s grandfather and the Marches’ next-door neighbor. Mr. Laurence is seen as a stiff and stern elderly man, but he eventually shows his softer side in a sweet, Grandfatherly relationship with Beth. Vocal Range: Baritone.
John Brooke (Doubles as Braxton)-- Laurie’s tutor and a stiff man who initially shows very little emotion, but is capable of showing great emotion. He falls in love with and marries Meg. Vocal Range: F#4 to bottom: C#3.
COVID-19 SAFETY: At in-person auditions, all attendees will be required to undergo a temp- check at the door. Masks must be worn at all times. A doctor-approved mouth rinse which reduces oral-viral contagions will be available for those who wish to take it. 6ft social distancing will be closely monitored for safety purposes.
