Beck Center for the Arts seeks a talented and engaging arts education instructor(s) to join our theater education faculty. In this role, the instructor will lead theater education classes while promoting and nurturing the education of students by planning and implementing effective and developmentally appropriate classroom experiences; providing a safe environment conducive to learning; keeping students informed as to the plan for the course and the activities taking place at Beck Center for the Arts. The instructor will be an entry point to first time students, while serving as an advocate for Beck Center to our students and the community.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Theater Education, the arts educator will:

*   possess the ability to engage students of various age ranges in arts education programs while assisting students in expressing themselves through the theater arts.

*   be responsible, reliable, and professional. And have the ability to work independently.

*   have the ability to fulfill all the responsibilities and duties of a classroom teacher, keeping records/tracking attendance and ability to manage a classroom or studio environment.

*   possess ability to work with a diverse team, including other arts professionals and arts administrators.

*   Teach any or all of the following classes:

Essentials- Acting (Ages 10-12) Sat. 9:00-10:00 AM (9/11/21-12/18/21)

Students explore core acting skills through focused exercises and theater games. These activities reinforce listening and reaction skills and interaction between actors. Students learn the groundwork of stage performance and the language of theater study. New scenes and activities each session.



Fundamentals-Acting (Ages 8-10) Sat. 10:00-11:00 AM (9/11/21-12/18/21)

Students explore basic acting skills through focused exercises and theater games. These activities reinforce listening and reaction skills and interaction between actors. Students learn the groundwork of stage performance and the language of theater study. New scenes and activities each session.



Teen Acting (Ages 13-19) Mon. 5:00-6:00 PM (9/13-12/13)

Students explore classic and contemporary techniques in developing craft along with keys to unlocking scripts and bringing them from page to the stage. Whether a novice or more experienced actor, scene work is an essential building block in an actor's growth. This class is a must.



Adult Acting: The Basics Mon. 6:00-8:00 PM (9/13-10/18 & 11/8-12/13)

Classical and contemporary techniques are explored in polishing craft along with keys to unlocking scripts, and bringing them from the page to the stage. All experiences welcomed. Audition pieces conquered.





Requirements include:

*         Possesses the proficiency (either through education and/or experience) to engage students of all abilities and teach concepts for specific courses taught.

*         A combination of education, training and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree in the art form is preferred.

*         Bachelor or Master's degree preferred. Individual's working toward their degree in theater education may be considered.

*         Experience Requirement: Extensive knowledge of art form and previous teaching experience (3-5 years) preferred.

*         Employees must pass a background check.
