Madacol PR 2021

The Department of Dance at Case Western Reserve University is pleased to
announce this fall’s production of MaDaCol (Mather Dance Collective).
Performances are November 18, 19 and 20 at 8 p.m.

MaDaCol, one of the university’s oldest undergraduate student
organizations, offers an important creative outlet for CWRU graduate and
undergraduate students, faculty, and staff. The performance will feature
new dance works by second-year graduate students El-drick Aboagye, Shadrach
Arthur, and Haiyan Chen.

About the Works:

With choreography by El-drick Aboagye and set to music by Daniel Auber, Gras
Fiesta is a lavish, boisterous, and vibrant jamboree that creates a
communal atmosphere of social solidarity. Witnessing decades of astonishing
festivals and carnivals from across the world accompanied by Aboagye’s
passion for dance inspired and motivated the creation of Gras Fiesta.

Enigma, choreographed by Shadrach Arthur to music by Chaitanya Hari Deuter,
portrays a group of disoriented people trying to make sense of their
shared, unknown, and scary environment. As a result, the group's internal
strife heightens when the group becomes collectively paranoid from a newly
encountered dark reality.

Haiyan Chen’s Un Beléro Azul, based on a style of cuban music called
Bolero, explores the kinetic connection with music and the dynamic shifts
between movements, establishing different vocabularies in a combination of
different styles of dance.

Tickets and Location:

All performances take place at Mather Dance Center located at 11040
Bellflower Road, on the Case Western Reserve University campus. All tickets
are $10 and may be purchased at Mather Dance Center prior to each
performance. Cash or check only is accepted upon purchase. Early arrival is
suggested due to limited seating. No reservations and no advance sales will
be made. For more information, please visit dance.case.edu.

**Increasing COVID-19 cases within Northeast Ohio have prompted Case
Western Reserve to resume its requirement that masks be worn indoors. In
addition, only those who are fully vaccinated (two weeks past their final
dose) should attend any campus event. Leaders continue to monitor pandemic
developments and may need to adjust health protocols further as
circumstances warrant. In-person is subject to change based on COVID-19
guidelines.**
