The Youngstown Playhouse announces auditions for

 People Along the Way

 The Youngstown Playhouse has announced auditions for the April production of People Along The Way. Open auditions will be held Saturday, January 15 & Sunday, January 16thfrom 4:30 – 6:30. Callbacks (if needed) will be held Wednesday, January 19 from 6:30 -9:30.

 The playwright of this autobiographical piece serves as its main character. Performed with minimal props and sets, it tells the story of an ordinary “Joe” who gets to revisit his past by summoning back many of the people who have shaped his life.  Through their conversations he will soon gain new insights about who he has become and perhaps a better understanding of why. This play lovingly touches upon the themes of memory, family, aging, illness, marriage and truth. It balances comedy and drama deftly creating a relatable piece for an audience that they will remember.

 Seeking:

2 male/male identifying characters each to play four roles

Male actor #1 four characters from ages 12 to 68,

Male actor #2 four characters from ages 40 to 65

 2 female/female identifying characters each to play four roles

Female actor #1 four characters from ages 15 to 95; slight Irish accent mentioned

Female actor #2 four characters from 11 to 42

 The role of male actor playing Joe has been cast.

 Much of the script is monologue, and sides will be provided for each character to read with an emphasis on interpreting the distinct vocals and personalities of several characters. Actors may bring a headshot and will be asked to fill out an audition sheet. Please list all conflicts at that time.

Rehearsals will begin February 28th with a read through. The rehearsal schedule will be Monday -Thursday 7:00 PMto 9:00 PM and some Sundays, time TBA. Not everyone will be needed each night until closer to production. These dates are flexible due to conflicts that understandably arise. Performances will take place April 22nd through May 1st , 2022.

 The Youngstown Playhouse requires that vaccinations for eligible individuals are a condition of casting and participation. Vaccination cards will be required at auditions. Exceptions will only be made for participants under the age of 12 or participants with medical conditions. The Youngstown Playhouse is committed to an inclusive casting process and encourages performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, and abilities to submit. Auditions and rehearsals will take place at 600 Playhouse Lane, Youngstown, OH.
