* “Follies,” is still recognized as the high-water mark of the serious
"concept" musical 52 years later (opening on April 4, 1971) and is rarely
performed.  With lyrics and music by the late Stephen Sondheim and a book
by James Goldman, "Follies" imagines the reunion of ex-Follies performers
amid a crumbling theatre, soon to be razed for a parking lot. *


*Amid the reminiscing, two middle-aged couples confront some unpleasant
truths about their past and present, coming face-to-face with not only
their future but their past selves. The former stars of the Follies relieve
memories and stumble through old numbers and somewhat magically experience
their old hits from Broadway's past in the Sondheim songs. *



* Callbacks will be held, in person by invitation only, on Saturday, August
6 between 1:00 AND 4:00 PM at Lakeland Community College. *

*Great roles for women and men of all ethnicities and ages.  All roles are
paid.*


* One 32 bar cut of a Sondheim song. Piano accompaniment preferred.

Rehearsals begin *in December *and will be held in-person in Lakeland
Community College's Performing Arts Center.

Performances are 3 shows a week from Friday, February 3 - Sunday, February
19, 2023. All roles are paid.

Please note that Lakeland Theatre is mandating Covid-19 vaccinations for
all actors and staff working in person during the 2021-22 season.  If
accepting an offer, artist affirms that they are already fully vaccinated
or that they will be fully vaccinated (currently defined as 2 weeks after
the final dose) prior to beginning any work on this production.
