WHAT TO KNOW:
We are seeking a diverse, multi-generational cast of 20 or more performers
for this expansive and inspirational musical. Performers of all ages (8 and
up) are encouraged to audition.
*As a director I am deeply committed to inclusive casting and encourage
BIPOC, queer identifying, and gender expansive actors to join us. – Braelin*

Performances:
8 Shows – August 2-17, 2024 (Friday and Saturday at 8:00PM and Sunday at
2PM)
Rehearsals:
Will begin approximately June 3, 2024. Rehearsals will run Monday-Thursday
(evenings) and Sunday (afternoons) based on cast availability. This is an
8-week rehearsal process.
Audition Requirements:
- Teens and adults (ages 14+) Prepare one song that shows off your story
telling.
- Youth (ages 8-13) Prepare a 32 bar cut or 90 seconds of a song that
you love to sing. You do not need to be memorized (although preferred);
please bring two copies of your music if not memorized.
- No acapella or taped recordings.
- No equity contracts available at this time. All positions are
volunteer.
- ALL ROLES ARE OPEN to all gender identities, races, ethnicities, body
types, ages, and abilities. The genders/ages outlined below are as
indicated by the script; however, they do not have to match the performer’s
actual identity or age, provided you feel confident in portraying the
character.
- Some actors may be cast in multiple roles. While we will explore
traditional double casting (such as Cain/Japheth), alternative casting
combinations will also be considered.
- None of these roles are precast.

*Character Breakdown:*
Father
Gender: Male
Age: 40s-60s
Vocal Range: Baritone (A2-G4)
The omnipotent creator of the universe, Father is strong, paternal, and
understanding. Requires a powerful presence and voice.
Adam/Noah
Gender: Male/Male
Age: 25+
Vocal Range: Baritenor (A2-A4)
Adam is the first man and father to Cain and Abel; Noah is a descendant of
Adam, chosen by Father to survive the flood. This role requires versatility
to portray both the innocence of Adam and the steady resolve of Noah.
Eve/Mama Noah
Gender: Female/Female
Age: 25+
Vocal Range: Mezzo-Soprano (A3-F5)
Eve is the first woman, curious and strong-willed. Mama Noah is Noah’s
wife, supportive and caring. This role demands a strong actress with a wide
emotional and vocal range.
Cain
Gender: Male
Age: 18+
Vocal Range: Tenor (B3 – B5)
Description: Cain is Adam and Eve’s first son, who struggles with his
brother Abel and ultimately commits the first murder. This role demands a
performer who can portray a range of emotions, from intense turmoil to
profound regret, reflecting Cain’s complex journey.
Yonah
Gender: Female
Age: 18+
Vocal Range: Mezzo (B3 – D5)
Description: Yonah is a servant girl with whom Japheth falls in love. The
role requires a performer who can convincingly depict Yonah’s gentle spirit
and strong love, alongside her resilience in the face of adversity.
Abel
Gender: Male
Age: 18+
Vocal Range: Tenor (B2 – G4)
Description: Abel is Adam and Eve’s second son, kind-hearted and favored by
his parents. This character embodies innocence and goodwill, necessitating
an actor who can convey a sense of purity and virtue.
Japheth
Gender: Male
Age: 18+
Vocal Range: Tenor (B2 – G4)
Description: Japheth is Noah’s son, who challenges his father’s will to
marry Yonah, a servant. This role seeks an actor capable of portraying
Japheth’s determined passion and his courage to stand up for his beliefs
and love.
Young Cain
Gender: Male
Age: Under 14
Vocal Range: Flexible, based on actor’s range
Description: A younger version of Cain, depicting his innocence and early
life challenges. Looking for a young performer who can capture the essence
of Cain’s journey and struggles.
Young Abel
Gender: Male
Age: Under 14
Vocal Range: Flexible, based on actor’s range
Description: A younger version of Abel, showing his kindness and
vulnerability from an early age. Requires a young actor who can portray
Abel’s gentle nature and warmth.
Ham
Gender: Male
Age: Any
Vocal Range: Flexible, based on actor’s range
Description: One of Noah’s children, Ham is loyal and supportive. This role
requires an actor who can portray a range of emotions from playful to
serious.
Shem
Gender: Male
Age: Any
Vocal Range: Flexible, based on actor’s range
Description: Another of Noah’s children, Shem is thoughtful and
inquisitive. The role seeks an actor capable of demonstrating curiosity and
depth.
Aysha
Gender: Female
Age: Any
Vocal Range: Flexible, based on actor’s range
Description: Partner to Ham, Aysha is caring and resilient. Requires a
performer who can show strength and tenderness.
Aphra
Gender: Female
Age: Any
Vocal Range: Flexible, based on actor’s range
Description: Partner to Shem, Aphra is wise and nurturing. This role calls
for an actor who can convey wisdom and compassion.
Adult Storytellers
Age: 18+
Vocal Range: Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass (Flexible ranges to accommodate a
wide variety of vocal parts)
Description: The Storytellers are integral to narrating and propelling the
story forward, playing various roles throughout the production. They should
be versatile performers with the ability to sing harmonies and bring
characters to life through song and movement.
*Special Note*: *There is an opportunity for a lower rehearsal commitment
for those interested in being offstage singers. Depending on interest, up
to 8 performers could be designated as “pit singers,” providing vocal
support without the requirement of blocking rehearsals.*
Young Storytellers
Age: 8-17
Vocal Range: Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass, Unchanged voices
Description: This younger ensemble will have the opportunity to shine and
play a crucial role in storytelling, adding energy and depth to the
production. Young performers will be involved in various scenes, embodying
the innocence and wonder of the story’s themes.
