[NEohioPAL] Upcoming Steel Drum Presentations and Concert as Part of ORMACO's World Tour of Music

Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) is gearing up for its Fall World Tour of Music Residency, which will feature Akron-based musician Joe Leaman, and Trinidadian Liam Teague in a Celebration of Steel Drum: Music from Trinidad and Tobago from October 21-October 26. During the week, outreach programs will take place at Black River School District, Ashland Middle School, the Medina County Juvenile Detention Center, Medina County Public Library and the Western Reserve Masonic Community.

Public events begin on Wednesday, October 23 at 6:30 pm as Joe Leaman presents a free Introduction to Steel Drum Music at the Medina County District Library, 210 S. Broadway, Medina, at 6:30 pm.

On Thursday, October 24, ORMACO and the Cleveland Music School Settlement join forces to present a relaxed evening of steel drum music with Joe Leaman and Friends in the intimate Bop Stop venue. The culminating concert brings you  A Steel Drum Celebration: The Music of Trinidad and Tobago, with Joe Leaman and Liam Teague on steel drums, along with other regional musicians at the Western Reserve Masonic Community, 4931 Nettleton Road, Medina on Saturday, October 26 at 7:30 pm. This concert mixes jazz, classical and pop music, as well as music of the traditional Caribbean cannon. Students from the Medina County Police Activities League after-school steel drum classes will participate.

Tickets are available at Buehler’s River Styx and Forest Meadow or online at www.ormaco.org. $15 in advance or $20 at the door. VIP Tickets are available for $60 only online at www.ormaco.org.  This includes a pre-concert reception at the home of John and Lisa Burke with heavy appetizers, wine, and piano music, plus reserved seating at the concert.
