July 9, 2025 (CLEVELAND, OH) —*Instant Opera* is born out of Huff’s love
for improv comedy and singing opera: “I love doing both, and thought, ‘Why
not combine the two? The show mixes Mad Libs style inspiration from the
audience, with the wild machinations of my voice and brain. And there
are hats!’ “


The inspiration for *Instant Opera* sprang out of conversations and past
performances with one of Huff’s closest friends, Jeremy Frank, opera vocal
coach and Los Angeles Opera Chorus Director. Says Huff, “I went to some
educational outreach programs Jeremy did years ago with Wolf Trap Opera,
which were partially improvised, and a lot of fun. I had this idea of
trying a one-person version of a short improvised opera, discussed it at
length with Jeremy, and workshopped several iterations with friends and
family. And thanks to audience suggestions, the show will be different
every time!”

outdoor patio at the Hermit Club in downtown Cleveland.

Liz Huff (she/her) does concert work, theater, and collaborative arts
projects throughout the Midwest and places as far-flung as Estonia,
Northern Ireland, and Finland. She debuted her one-woman improvised
show *Instant
Opera* at Micro Theater Cle’s Fall 2024 pop-up festival, with additional
upcoming shows at Maelstrom Arts' SHORTFORM and BorderLight Fringe
Festival. Other appearances include Cleveland Play House’s *Amadeus* as
Teresa Salieri, and BorderLight 2023 singing the Narrator in Obediya
Jones-Darrell’s opera *Fairy in The Lake*. She has sung with the Cleveland
Pops at Severance Hall, and headlined holiday concerts at Nighttown. An
advocate for new work in theater and music, Liz has premiered numerous
works by Ryan Charles Ramer and other composers, and by playwrights at
Ensemble Theatre, Cain Park, and Cleveland Public Theatre. She is a member
of The Greenhouse (Ohio-based theatre makers), and a voting member of the
