*Beck Center’s SpongeBob The Musical Auditions Announced!!!*

*Beck Center for the Arts in Lakewood is thrilled to announce auditions for
SPONGEBOB The Musical. Open Call Auditions will take place at Beck Center
on Sunday, Sept. 14th and Monday Sept. 15th. Audition appointments are now
being taken. Please call the Beck Patron Services office during regular
hours at 216-521-2540 to make your appointment. Appointment slots begin at
6PM both days, and will continue until slots are full. Callbacks will occur
the weekend of Sept. 20th and 21st. *

*SpongeBob performs on Beck’s Senney Main Stage and opens Friday Dec. 5th,
closing Sunday Jan. 4th. No performances Dec. 22nd thru Dec. 26th, allowing
for travel. Rehearsals begin in late October TBD, with no rehearsal on
T’Giving Thursday and Friday.*

*SPONGEBOB The Musical is, of course, based on the famed Nickelodeon
animated series that has touched all our lives as children, parents and
even grandparents. In this Broadway musical, SpongeBob and the gang are up
against an apocalyptic event that they must overcome and restore underwater
harmony to the denizens of Bikini Bottom. The music is a brilliant and
eclectic mix provided by over a dozen well-known solo artists and bands,
including Sara Bareilles, David Bowie, The Flaming Lips, Lady Antebellum,
Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, Joe Perry, Plain White T’s,
They Might Be Giants and Steven Tyler, plus original music by Tom Kitt.*

*The cast includes all your favorites! Patrick Star, Sandy Cheeks,
Squidward, Mr. Crabs and Pearl, Sheldon J. Plankton and Karen the Computer,
Mrs. Puff, The Mayor, Patchy the Pirate, Larry the Lobster, Old Man
Jenkins, TV Newsfish Perch Perkins and of course---SpongeBob himself. All
of these plus dozens and dozens of Bikini Bottom locals----all provided by
the finest of ensembles. This is an amazing opportunity for musical theatre
character actors to strut their stuff.*

*All roles are open except the title role of SpongeBob, which has been
cast. Interested performers should be strong vocalists, good movers (there
are specialty roles where more dance is required) and most of
all---fearless. Beck’s production seeks performers 14 and up (though only a
couple roles will fall to ages 14 to 16.) It is anticipated that 2 Equity
contracts will be available. All other performers 18 and over are paid a
stipend for their participation. Video submissions in lieu of on-site Open
Call auditions are welcome, but unless otherwise discussed, callbacks are
expected to be in-person. Out-of-town performers are welcome to submit,
though please know that housing and transportation cannot be provided.*

*What To Prepare: For your open call please simply prepare a vocal
selection that shows off your voice. Bring sheet music in your key. An
accompanist will be provided to you. You are also welcome to self-accompany
(piano, guitar, etc) if you choose. Dance Call will not occur until the
Callback sessions. *

*If you have additional questions, please contact Artistic Director Scott
Spence at scotts at beckcenter.org <scotts at beckcenter.org>*

*Staff for this production include Scott Spence (Director), Larry
Goodpaster (Musical Director), Lauren Marousek (Choreographer) and Libby
White (Production Stage Manager)*
