Lakeland Civic Chorus to hold open auditions 2015-2016 season under new direction Aug. 6, 2015—KIRTLAND, Ohio—The Lakeland Community College Civic Chorus is hosting an open call for choral singers to perform in the 2015-2016 season. The open call will be at the first rehearsal Tuesday, Aug. 25, from 7:30–9:30 p.m. on the main campus, 7700 Clocktower Drive, 44094, in the music room C-1078. Lakeland students may earn one college credit per semester for their participation. The chorus will perform three concerts this academic season. Performances are scheduled for Oct. 25 and Dec. 6, 2015, and April 17, 2016. Rehearsals are held Tuesday evenings from 7:30–9:30 p.m. beginning Aug. 25. The Lakeland Civic Chorus performs music styles ranging from medieval chant to contemporary popular, and compositions for a traditional SATB (soprano, alto, tenor bass) choral ensemble, as well as pieces written specifically for women’s voices or men’s voices. Leonard DiCosimo has been named the new director of the Lakeland Civic Chorus. DiCosimo is the president of the Cleveland Federation of Musicians, Local 4, and the director of music ministry at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Tremont. He has served on the conducting faculty at Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music where he directed the women’s, college and motet choir, as well as taught conducting courses.
