*WRP presents it’s first $5 Buck Series reading! All tickets are ONLY $5!* *Western Reserve Playhouse **presents:* *“What the Butler Saw”* A Comedy by Joe Orton Directed by Jim Fippin Show Date: January 26, 2020 @ 2PM Tickets: www.thewrp.org Western Reserve Playhouse will kick off their 2020 $5 Play Reading Series with a rehearsed reading of Joe Orton’s savagely satirical farce, *What the Butler Saw*, a mind-bending mash-up of British sex-farce and Monty Python-esque outrageousness. “The Python analogy is apt,” says Jim Fippin, who, in addition to directing *What the Butler Saw*, is the $5 Buck Series coordinator. “Orton was influenced by a lot the same things that drove the Pythons in the sixties, but he also had a genius for crafting dialogue rivaled only by Oscar Wilde. I have loved this play from the very first moment I read it, and am very excited to share it with an audience as part of the $5 Series.” *What the Butler Saw *will be performed as a rehearsed reading on Sunday, January 26 at 2:00 p.m. at Western Reserve Playhouse, 3326 Everett Road, in Bath, Ohio. General Admission Tickets are $5.00 each. *What the Butler Saw* starts “innocently” enough, with an attempt by psychiatrist Doctor Prentice to seduce Geraldine Barclay, an applicant for the position of his secretary. But the unexpected arrival of Mrs. Prentice on the scene is only the first of many interruptions: the police, a government inspector, and a bell-boy are soon running amok in a flurry of mistaken and concealed identities, states of undress, gunfire, and the search for a missing “part” of a statue of Sir Winston Churchill. The roles of Doctor and Mrs. Prentice will be read by James Rankin and Holly Facer. Mr. Rankin was last seen by Western Reserve audiences in last season’s reading of *Finks*. Ms. Facer was a $5 Series regular in 2019, appearing in *Finks*, *Sirens,* and *Dead Accounts*. Erin Moore, most recently seen at Weathervane Playhouse in *And Then There Were None,* will play Geraldine Barclay, making her WRP debut. Akron theatre veteran Alex J. Nine will play Doctor Rance. Mr. Nine has appeared on stages throughout the area, including Ohio Shakespeare Festival, Weathervane, and most recently at Western Reserve Playhouse in *Sirens*. Cameron Zona, last seen at Western Reserve in *The Bridges of Madison County*, will play Nicholas Beckett*.* Bob Maddox is an actor whose recent relocation to Northeast Ohio landed him in Weathervane’s *And Then There Were None*, and in the role of Sergeant Match. *What the Butler Saw* will be performed only once, on Sunday, January 26 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $5.00 each and may be purchased online at the Western Reserve Playhouse website (thewrp.org) or by calling the box office at 330-620-7314. -- This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed.
