Hathaway Brown Theatre Institute is still looking to fill some roles for their 2017 Summer Production of *Side Show* directed by Dan Hendrock and *Children of Eden *Co-directed by Fred Sternfeld and Bebe Weinberg Katz We are particularly looking for teen guys with strong singing and acting and teen girls who can act, sing and dance. HBTI is an intensive summer theatre training program with top notch instructors who are working professionals in their craft. Spend the day training with knowledgeable teachers in a room filled with your talented peers and spend your evening rehearsing for these fantastic shows. To be eligible to be in a production the actors must participate in at a minimum of one session of summer training classes. The open featured roles are: *Side Show: * Buddy Foster: A*n aspiring choreographer/performer; a song and dance man; bright and energetic, but a bit naive; full of genuine drive and heart. Violet’'s love interest. He falls in love with Violet and the attention they are getting as they gain in success and fame; tenor; big range, up to C with a strong sustained high A. * Jake: S*ideshow foreman, a large and very strong physical presence even when silent. Secretly in love with Violet. Must be a strong actor of great depth with a fantastic voice. Ideally would be in excellent physical shape and appears at one point in tribal type clothing that is somewhat revealing. He is a man of few words, but when he speaks it has great impact and he is heard loud and clear. He is an incredibly smart man and sees through Terry and Buddy’'s intentions and wants only the best for the girls. He loves them both deeply and would do anything for them; tenor/baritone with strong top range. Strongly prefer an African American. * *Children of Eden* Aysha/Snake Everyone in Children of Eden is a storyteller. Featured roles are "pulled out" of the storytellers. In Act 1 the snake is created using 5-7 actor/singer/dancers singing complex harmonies while they execute dialog and intricate dance in an the attempt to get Eve to eat from the Tree of Knowledge. In act 2 the same storyteller plays Aysha, wife of Shem who is one of Noah's sons.
