LAND OF CLEVE REVIEW: Magical Musical * 'Mary Poppins' * Enthralls Audiences at Olmsted Performing Arts Director Angela Boehm has embraced the show's mantra that “anything can happen if you let it.” She and her creative crew have pulled out all the stops when it comes to stage sorcery and theatrical tricks. But Boehm has also installed a lot of heart into the proceedings, and by the end of the journey you will feel concern and compassion for Mary and her adopted family. She is admirably aided by choreographers Megan Nicole and Abbi Cavanaugh along with music director Judy Crandall and conductor Tim Strelau. Boehm has also cast the show to perfection, beginning with powerhouse performers Rachel Anderson and Shane Patrick O'Neill as Mary and Bert, who relish their roles with vigorous vocals and compelling characterizations. Michael Ryan Boehm and Jade Mcgee (understudied by Lily Kozub) impeccably portray the children as they go from cautious to carefree throughout the course of the action. Similarly, Jeffrey E. Braun and Holly Feiler make a triumphant transformation as Mr. and Mrs. Banks. Candace Russell bristles beautifully as housekeeper Mrs. Brill, and Stuart Landes is suitably flabbergasted as the butler Robertson.
