Box 235, 49 Park St. Madison, OH 44057 CONTACT: 440-428-5913 DATE: February 3, 2020 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Auditions for Rabbit Run Theater's 2020 Summer Season Audition appointments are now being taken for the 2020 summer season at Rabbit Run Theater in Madison, Ohio. The productions for the summer are "Kiss Me Kate", "Baskerville, A Sherlock Holmes Mystery", "Titanic, The Musical" and "Always . . . Patsy Cline" as well as the Young Adult Production, Disney's "Newsies". "Kiss Me Kate", a musical with music and lyrics by Cole Porter, runs from May 29 through June 13. The production is directed by Brint Learned. Musical direction is by Danielle Jones and choreography is by Hannah Green Hrutkay. There are multiple roles available for men and women, ages 15 and up. Leading lady Lilli Vanessi and her ex-husband, actor/director Fred Graham, battle onstage and off in a production of Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew". With romance, comedy, sophistication, and behind-the-scenes high jinks, "Kiss Me Kate" combines the humor and brilliancy of Cole Porter and William Shakespeare. The Young Adult Production, Disney's "Newsies" features young actors, ages 12 to 21. With music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Jack Feldman, the production runs from July 10 through July 18. The show is directed by Brint Learned. Musical direction is by Ed Leonard and the choreography is by Hannah Green Hrutkay. "Newsies" follows the tale of charismatic newsboy Jack Kelly as he and his fellow newsies rally to clash with New York City's titans of publishing to fight for their rights. Set at the turn-of-the-20th century and inspired by a true story, "Newsies" is packed with dance numbers and a family-friendly message. There are numerous roles available for youth, male and female, ages 12 through 21. Auditions for "Kiss Me Kate" and "Disney's Newsies" are Friday, Mar. 20, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Mar. 21 from 6 to 9 p.m. Winner of five Tony Awards, "Titanic, The Musical" is an account of the first and last days of this ship of dreams. With music and lyrics by Maury Yeston and story and book by Peter Stone, "Titanic, The Musical" is told through some of the real life characters involved in the tragedy. Show dates are July 24 through Aug. 8. The show is directed by Paige Heidrich, with musical direction by James Slike and choreography by Hannah Green Hrutkay. Many roles are available for men and women in "Titanic, The Musical", ages 15 and up. "Always . . . Patsy Cline" runs from Aug. 14 through Sept. 5 and was originally created and directed by Ted Swindley. This play with music is a tribute to the legendary country singer and is based on the true story of Patsy's friendship with a fan from Houston. The show features many of Patsy's greatest hits including "Crazy", "I Fall to Pieces" and "Sweet Dreams" among others. Two female roles are available for "Always . . . Patsy Cline", ages 25 and up. Direction is by Brint Learned with musical direction by Jonathan Gordon. Auditions for "Titanic, The Musical" and "Always . . . Patsy Cline" are Friday, Mar. 27 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Mar. 28, from 6 to 9 p.m. Video auditions will be accepted for those who are not able to make the regular audition dates. A video audition should include a vocal audition with 16 measures of a Broadway-style song with piano accompaniment. "Baskerville, A Sherlock Holmes Mystery" audition information will be announced soon. Actors auditioning should prepare to sing 16 measures of a Broadway-style song from memory. Please bring sheet music for the accompanist in a binder. No pre-recorded accompaniment or CD tracks. No monologue need be prepared as actors will read sides from the script.
