Ashland University invites applications for 12 month Technical Director position starting August 1, 2018. MFA in Technical Theatre or BA/BFA with appropriate professional experience required. Experience with sound, electrics and welding helpful. Candidates must possess strong collaborative, instructional, organizational, communication and leadership skills and a commitment to mentoring undergraduate students. Manage day to day scene shop operations, equipment maintenance, engineering, implementation and installation of all scenic, lighting, and sound elements, draft shop drawings (Vectorworks), oversee undergraduate student crews and construction for two theatres and three main stage productions each year. Serve as facility manager for the theatre spaces and team-teach two tech theatre courses. Maintain production and rehearsal facilities, serve as master carpenter, and ensure a safe working environment. Ability to hire, train and manage work study students and student crews, and flexibility to work nights and weekends.
