A 2 PM matinee will be held on Sunday, January 29, followed by an open discussion with /Sherwood/ director and amateur medieval historian Don Bernardo. Tickets are $21, with a $4 discount for students, seniors, and active military and are available online at CVLT.org or by phone at 440-247-8955. Ludwig's play is based on the classic tale of Robin Hood (played by Grant Orndorff). Originating in English ballads of the Late Middle Ages, it's the story of a nobleman who leaves his privileged life to stand up for the downtrodden. He is joined by his friends Little John (Douglas R. Vanek), Friar Tuck (Adam V. Young), and the peasant girl Deorwynn (Michela Palma), among others. In Ludwig's retelling, the flawed Robin finds his ideals challenged and shaped by his compatriots — particularly the feisty Maid Marian Fitzwalter (Alex Petsche), who steals his heart with her sword in hand. The swashbuckling tale is filled with romance, humor, and action as the righteous troupe fights the villainous Sheriff of Nottingham (Scott Sanborn) and Guy of Gisbourne (John-Paul Whitman), who work for Prince John (Joe Kenderes). Also along for the adventure are "merry men and women" played by Julian Kruyne, Carlos Canaztuj, Maureen Basista, Micah Saunders, Steve Mullett, and Claudia Lillibridge Mr. Bernardo's post-show talk on 1/29, entitled "Who was Robin Hood? The Identity of the Outlaw Revealed!" will give a brief historical review of the Robin Hood legends, and their impact on popular culture both past and present. The production team includes Kate Williams-Bernardo (Producer), Brenda Willis (Stage Manager), Jacklyn Kruyne (Costumes), Kevin Inouye (Fight Choreographer), and Tom West (Technical Director).
