The Fine Arts Association announces auditions for: "Kiss Me, Kate" (the 1999 Revival) Director: David Malinowski Musical Director: Chris Bott Combine Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew" with Porter's music and lyrics to get Kiss Me, Kate- an instant success with every cast and audience. This is a play-within-a-play where each cast member's on-stage life is complicated by what is happening offstage. Musical numbers include Why Can't You Behave, So In Love, Wunderbar, Tom, Dick or Harry, Were Thine That Special Face, From This Moment On, Too Darn Hot, Brush Up Your Shakespeare, I Hate Men, Always True to You (In My Fashion) and Another Op'nin', Another Show. He is the actor/director/producer of the play-within-the-play, also Lilli's ex-husband. Lilli Vanessi (Katherine) - 30-50, strong mezzo soprano. She is an actress of the stage and screen, proud, haughty, and also vulnerable. Lois Lane (Bianca) - 20-30, strong mezzo belter. The quintessential ingénue but with lots of charisma and charm. Bill Calhoun (Lucentio) - 20-30, strong tenor/baritone. Should move well. He is a ne'er-do-well actor with a bit of a gambling problem. 1st & 2nd Man - 30-50, comic baritone. Archetypical gangsters complete with accent. "Brush Up Your Shakespeare" is their show-stopping number. Gremio & Hortensio - 20-30, tenor/baritone. Featured singers and dancers. Supports Harrison Howell - 50-60, career military type. Harry Trevor (Baptista) - 50+, a veteran character actor. Paul - 20-40, tenor/baritone. Lead soloist and dancer in "Too Darn Hot".
