July 7, 2015 *FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE* CONTACT: Joshua Erichsen 330.453.7619 ext 501 *THE PLAYERS GUILD IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE * *AUDITIONS FOR JEKYLL & HYDE THE MUSICAL* The Players Guild Theatre announces upcoming auditions for the 2015-2016 season opening musical, JEKYLL & HYDE. The JEKYLL & HYDE production team includes: Michael Lawrence Akers, Director/Choreographer; Joshua Erichsen, Producing Artistic Director; and Steve Parsons, Music Director. Based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic thriller, Jekyll & Hyde is the gripping tale of a brilliant mind gone horrifically awry, set to a powerful pop-rock score by Frank Wildhorn with book and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse. In an attempt to cure his ailing father’s mental illness by separating “good” from “evil” in the human personality, talented physician Dr. Jekyll inadvertently creates an alternate personality of pure evil, dubbed Mr. Hyde, who wreaks murderous havoc on the city of London. As his fiancée Emma grows increasingly fearful for her betrothed, a prostitute, Lucy, finds herself dangerously involved with both the doctor and his alter ego. Struggling to control Hyde before he takes over for good, Jekyll must race to find a cure for the demon he has created in his own mind. Auditions will be held at the Players Guild Theatre located in the Cultural Center for the Arts, 1001 Market Ave N., Canton, on Monday, July 13 and Tuesday, July 14 from 7:00 – 9:30 PM. *All roles are available and non-traditional casting will be considered for all roles*. Interested parties who are 16 years of age or older, should sign up for a time slot by filling out the available online form at www.playersguildtheatre.com. Walk ins are permitted and will be accommodated for the first available time slot. Those auditioning are asked to please prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre piece which best showcases their vocal ability and bring the corresponding sheet music in the correct key (an accompanist will be provided). Additionally, actors are asked to bring a current photo or headshot (and resume if available, but not required) with them to their audition. Principal callbacks are scheduled to be held on Wednesday, July 15. The cast meet & greet and read thru will be held on Wednesday, July 22nd. Rehearsals are scheduled to begin Sunday July 26th, and will run Sunday - Thursday evenings from 7-10pm. This W.G. Fry Theatre production is scheduled to open on Friday, September 4, 2015 and will run through Sunday September 20, 2015 with Friday and Saturday performances at 8:00pm, and Sunday matinees at 2:00 PM.
