Elevator available for disabled persons. *Description *The course is an intensive and deep introduction to the Michael Chekhov technique. Michael Chekhov developed a fully psycho-physical approach offering simple tools for working with the imagination, body and emotions. This technique engages the actor's entire body and stimulates his psyche and emotional states, enabling the actor to transform into another character. During the course we will be exploring what it means to really engage the whole body in the physical actions and how rich the psychological response to it can be. Workshops designed for actors, dancers, performers, people interested in self-development. The great advantage of Michael Chekhov technique is that it allows you to use imagination in order to create a character, helps you to deeply connect with your body and understand the intangible, psychological processes happening within the body, allows to reconnect with your creative energy. The class will consist of a few tools from Michael Chekhov technique: - - Qualities of Movement - - 3 centers: Willing, Feeling, Thinking - - Expansion – Contraction - - Psychological Gesture *About the Instructor *Jakub Margosiak is an actor, dancer, director. A graduate of the Acting Department of the AST National Academy of Theatre Arts in Cracow and a freelance student at the Department of Dance Theater in Bytom (Poland). Ph.D. student at The Film School in Lodz (Poland). Awarded Fulbright Scholarship for conducting research about Michael Chekhov technique in the U.S. Awarded: Rector’s scholarship and Scholarship for The Best Ph.D. student at The Film School in Lodz, Scholarship of Tarnow City Mayor, Scholarship of Silesian Region. Founder of the Living Space Theatre – director of award-winning performances: “Ferdydurke”, “Jesus Christ, Refugee!”, “Kaj dzias”, “Shapes.” He led workshops and gave a lecture at the 35th International Theater Institute World Congress in Segovia (Spain). He taught Michael Chekhov acting technique among others at: The New School (NYC), Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts (China), Xi’an Concert Hall (China), Busan International Performing Arts Festival (South Korea), The Machulski’s Acting School (Poland) and The Film School (Poland).
