AFRICAN AMERICAN ACTRESS NEEDED In need of an adult African American Actress for a 10-minute choreo-poem performance. Experience with collaborative theatrical creation, and/or poetry writing is a plus, but by no means a requirement. See info below about rehearsal and performance dates, and a description of the work to be created. A small stipend will be available. *Interested parties should send a resume and headshot (or equivalent photo and brief summary of experience) to mlaurenking@gmail.com <mlaurenking@gmail.com> by Sunday, March 26th at 5pm. * *The Piece* What is the cost of hiding, acquiescing to silence and not honoring our full selves, even if doing so keeps us safe in the short term? We will be creating a 10-minute choreo-poem inspired by the literal and metaphorical idea of going underground, or going into hiding when it isn’t safe to be visible. Whether it is escaping domestic violence and physically needing to leave your home to disappear, or being silent when someone makes a racist comment in your presence not recognizing how that impacts you, this piece will highlight a few perspectives on this issue, and what blossoms when it is safe enough to be fully visible. The piece will use content from performers’ own experiences. *Performance: *Saturday, April 29th, 6:30pm – 10:00pm as part of CPT's Station Hope. (Find more info about Station Hope here <http://www.cptonline.org/performances/seasons/2016-2017/station-hope-2017/> ). *Rehearsals:* Evenings and/or weekends through the month of April. Tech and Dress will occur between April 22nd - 28th, so evening availability and flexibility during this time is a must.
