Allison LCCC's Stocker Arts Center Hosts Sound Energy Concert Lorain County Community College presents "Sound Energy: A Signature Series Concert" at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3 at the Cirigliano Studio Theatre at the Stocker Arts Center. Sound Energy is a dynamic, Boston-based string trio committed to exploring new sounds, new collaborations, and new music. Established in 2013 by founding members Micah Brightwell (violin) and Ashleigh Gordon (viola) with the subsequent addition of Benjamin Swartz (cello), Sound Energy is constantly searching for ways to push the traditional violin-viola-cello combination to represent the bold, daring voices of 20th- and 21st-century composers. Sound Energy members hail from as far as New Zealand with studies in the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and Germany. As individuals, they've performed internationally in Hong Kong, London, and Mexico with ensembles such as Ensemble Modern, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Callithumpian Consort, and the Bang on a Can All-Stars. They've attended festivals including Britten-Pears, Aspen, Tanglewood, and Kneisel Hall, and hold degrees from New England Conservatory, Royal Academy of Music, Cleveland Institute of Music, Peabody Conservatory, Johns Hopkins University, Rice University, Baldwin-Wallace University and the Internationale Ensemble Modern Akademie. The event is sponsored by the Arts and Humanities division. Admission is free. Visit http://sites.lorainccc.edu/stocker/lccc_events/ashe-gordon-viola/ for more information.
