All aboard for one of the greatest musicals in theatre history, Cole Porter’s unforgettable*Anything Goes*, winner of three 2011 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival. It’s non-stop laughs and madcap fun on the S.S. American with an unusual array of passengers including a gangster, a wealthy debutante, a charismatic nightclub singer and a lovesick stowaway. With spectacular dance and a boatload of Cole Porter tunes like “You’re the Top,” “I Get a Kick Out of You” and the title song, you’ll get a ‘kick’ out of* Anything Goes*! Stuart "Skip" Kelley, the namesake for this youth series, was a strong proponent of involving youth in every aspect of theater production, especially guiding them in the mysteries of technical theater areas, such as sound production and lighting design. Kelley's talents led him to contribute to Telarc Records, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Cincinnati Pops, the Atlanta Symphony, Cain Park, the Hanna Theater, Chagrin Valley Little Theatre and Orange Stagecrafters during his lifetime. When he passed away in 2005, his former students worked with the leadership at GLTG to create a youth series in his name. To this day, GLTG tech crews are usually made up of students under 18 years of age. This year's musical is in keeping with Kelley's vision to support youth and those newer to the arts. *The Little Mermaid * *Audition Information* Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above, bargaining with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea. *Directed by John Krol* *Sponsored by NDS Orthodontics* Sunday, February 12 from 7-9:30PM Tuesday, February 14 from 7-9:30PM Wednesday, February 15 from 7-9:30PM (Conflict auditions and callbacks) Thursday, February 16 from 7-9:30PM (Additional callbacks) Auditions will be held at the Geauga Lyric Arts Center 106 Water St Chardon, Oh (Across the street from theater) *Singing and Movement only. Come with an objective driven song of one minute or less, and come dressed for movement. (An objective driven song is one in which the singing actor wants something for themselves or from someone else. A great example is Part of Your World, in which Ariel tells us what she has and contrasts that strongly with what she really wants and vividly describes those things for the listener. An objective song focuses on acting choices, not on singing) An accompanist is provided, so please bring sheet music. A cappella singing is discouraged. Auditioning teens and adults will sign up for half-hour blocks of time.* Rehearsals begin February 19 To schedule a half-hour audition block please call 440 285-7701 onTuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays.
